I. Leticia (Letty) Ramirez, formerly Chief Marketing and Communications Officer for Carondelet, has accepted a new position as Vice President, Advocacy, Government and Community Relations for the Network.

Carondelet Health Network’s Postpartum Depression Program, part of Carondelet Women’s Care, has received a grant for $35,000 to provide education, screening and support for pregnant and postpartum women, as well as to identify and treat mood disorders. This is part of our state’s child abuse prevention efforts.

Carondelet St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s Hospitals have been recognized nationally with Gold Performance Achievement Awards for using evidence-based guidelines to provide the best possible care to patients with Coronary Artery Disease. This recognition comes from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines program.

On Saturday, October 3, 2009, parents who have experienced a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or newborn death are invited to attend a very special event called "A Walk to Remember" at 10:00 a.m. at Children's Memorial Park.

Carondelet Health Network proudly announces the appointment of Anthony R. Fonze as Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective August 21, 2009. As Chief Information Officer, Mr. Fonze will oversee all of the hospital system’s efforts with regards to information technologies. In addition to this new role, Mr. Fonze will retain his title and responsibilities as Carondelet’s Chief Health Information Officer (CHIO) as well.

With flu season fast approaching and cases of H1N1 being reported in Pima County and throughout Arizona, Carondelet Health Network today announced its plans for coping with, protecting against and preventing the spread of H1N1 and seasonal flu in its hospitals this season.

Carondelet Neurological Institute on the campus of St. Joseph’s Hospital has earned the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission as a certified Primary Stroke Center. According to Robert P. Goldfarb, MD, Chairman of Carondelet Neurological Institute, the team at St. Joseph’s Hospital demonstrated its strict adherence to national standards and guidelines that can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients.

Carondelet Health Network is pleased to announce Wanona (Winnie) Fritz as President and CEO of both St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson and Holy Cross Hospital in Nogales, Arizona. Fritz, who has spent the last three months as interim CEO at St. Mary’s, officially assumed the role there in late June. Now, she will provide strategic, financial and operational oversight at both St. Mary’s and Holy Cross Hospitals.

Roy G. Farrell, M.D., has joined Carondelet Health Network as Chief Medical Officer for Carondelet Holy Cross Hospital. The role of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is a newly created position at Holy Cross. Dr. Farrell is the first person to assume this role at the hospital.

Carondelet Health Network is pleased to announce the promotion of J.C. Flowers to Vice President of Revenue Cycle and Managed Care Services. In his new role, Flowers will oversee managed care, reimbursement audit, Charge Master Distribution (CMD), patient admitting and patient financial services, among other duties.
