Life Care Planning – Are You Ready?
The second annual National Health Care Decisions Day is Friday, April 16. Carondelet is participating in this event to ensure that its associates and their families have an opportunity to communicate and document their health care decisions. At all of the Carondelet locations there will be an opportunity to learn about Durable Health Care Power of Attorney and Living Wills. Special tables will be staffed for several hours where information and packets will be available. Hours will vary at each location.
This event – a Carondelet Mission Ini¬tiative – has two goals. The first is for associates to receive the information and engage in conversation with their loved ones to discuss their wishes. According to Sr. Irma Odabashian, an event organizer, “The second goal is for our associates, especially those involved in direct patient care, to become more comfortable discussing health care treatment decisions with the patients and families. Reaching this goal is critical,” she says, especially given the low number of patients who currently have these documents.
Associates will also have an opportunity to receive a ticket for incentive drawings for gift cards and to pick up stickers announcing that it is National Health Care Decision Day.
