Carondelet is a strong supporter of a community-wide coalition to form a Southern Arizona Health Information Exchange (SAHIE). Carondelet’s support of SAHIE has been both financial and through significant volunteer staff support.
Participants in SAHIE include:
- Hospitals
- Physicians
- Health plans
- Consumers
- Clinical labs
- Diagnostic imaging centers
- State and local government
SAHIE’s goals are to improve the quality and efficiency of care in Southern Arizona by providing a clinical snapshot of a patient, including medications, allergy history and current health status at the time medical care is being provided, with a special focus on the emergency department setting. The process of exchanging such information between and among health providers will include appropriate privacy and security protections for patients.
