Visitor parking is free of charge. Our lots are well lit. Security personnel are available to escort you to your vehicle if needed. Dial the operator and ask for an escort.

Cell Phones

Cell phones are permitted in many areas throughout the facility, but are restricted in several patient care areas. Please observe the signs where cell phone use is restricted.

General Visiting Guidelines

  • Visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Visitors should be healthy. Please be considerate of patients and stay away from the hospital if you have a communicable disease, such as a cold or flu. (Please refer to the Infection Control Precautions section of this guide.)
  • Up to two visitors may visit at any one time.
  • When not in a patient room, visitors are asked to remain in public areas, such as the Family and Visitor Support Center, lobbies, or waiting areas.
  • Members of the clergy may visit at any time.
  • Children under the age of 13 must remain under the supervision of an adult at all times.
  • Weapons, alcohol and illegal substances are not allowed in the hospital or on hospital grounds.
  • Use of tobacco is not permitted in the hospital or on the hospital grounds.
  • The Patient Care Unit Charge Nurse must approve family overnight visitation, if a family member requests to stay overnight. A visitor’s pass will be issued to the individual, which must be placed visibly on his/her clothing. The badge indicates to hospital staff that the visitor has permission to stay after 8 p.m. Please note that if the visitor leaves the building, he/she may not re-enter.

Some areas have special rules regarding visitation. Please check with hospital staff to determine if there are any specific rules you and your visitors should be aware of.

Critical Care and Surgery Support Centers

St. Mary’s hospital encourages and supports active involvement of patients’ families and their visitors in the patient’s hospital experience. Newly renovated areas provide our families and visitors with comfortable seating, a quiet atmosphere, consultation rooms for meeting with healthcare providers and the ability to obtain needed information about their family member from our Volunteers.
We encourage family members to leave the hospital and rest at home during the night. It is important that family members are well rested so that they may feel strong and can support their loved one who is in the hospital. Family members may not sleep in the Support Center or Consultation Rooms overnight.

Families and visitors are encouraged to cleanse their hands frequently to prevent the spread of infection. Cleansing stations have been provided for our families and visitors in the Support Center.
We recognize that children are active participants in the healing process for some patients. We ask that children are always directly supervised by an adult. Children, like all other visitors, must cleanse their hands before and after visiting a patient to prevent infection. Diaper changing tables are available in the first floor restrooms located east of the Critical Care and Surgical Family Support Centers.

Eating is not allowed in the Support Center. St. Mary’s Hospital offers families and visitors several options for obtaining food and drinks while visiting. Food and beverages may be enjoyed on our Garden Patio, in the Baker’s Deli or the Seven Sisters Cafe. Families and visitors may have bottled water in the Support Center.

A phone for our patients and visitors has been provided in the Center. We ask that calls be limited to three minutes or less so all visitors can use the phone. The phone is available for local calls only. For long distance calls, families and visitors may use the pay phone on the first floor.

Critical Care Unit

In order to allow the healthcare team in the Critical Care unit to provide ongoing care for our patients, we ask that the posted visiting hours be adhered to at all times. If you have a special request regarding visiting hours, ask the Critical Care Charge Nurse.

Please limit the number of visitors to two persons at a time in a patient’s room.

Emergency Center Visiting

With the exception of the following guidelines, each patient is permitted two adult visitors. Children under age 13 may visit in special circumstances with permission of the charge nurse or physician. Visitors must be free from recent exposure to communicable disease and without visible signs of infectious disease. During times of infectious outbreak in the community, visitation may be restricted. If visitors are asked to leave the treatment area, we appreciate their immediate cooperation and understanding.

Please respect the following guidelines:

  • All visitors and staff are requested to wash their hands before and after patient contact. Containers with foam alcohol disinfectant are conveniently located outside the door of each patient room. In certain situations, visitors may be asked to wear a mask, gown and/or gloves while in the treatment room or in the waiting area.
  • The charge nurse or emergency physician may restrict or expand visitation based on the needs of the patient and the department.
  • A visitor identification badge will be issued and must be displayed at all times to gain entrance into the Emergency Center treatment areas.
  • No visitors will be allowed with a patient who has been a victim of a violent crime until visitation has been authorized by law enforcement.
  • Visitors may be asked to step outside the patient room during patient exam or treatment.
  • Visitors will return to the waiting room if the patient leaves the department for tests.
  • Visitors are not permitted in areas of the Emergency Center outside of the patient’s room and the main waiting area.
  • No food or beverages may be brought into patient rooms.
  • A shirt and shoes must be worn by all visitors at all times.

Tobacco Free Policy

Carondelet Health Network is a tobacco-free environment. Our efforts present an opportunity to help many individuals achieve healthier lifestyles. Therefore, tobacco use of any kind will not be permitted:

  • In the buildings or on the grounds of the facilities
  • In any vehicle on our grounds
  • At any office/program operated off site by one of our facilities.

If you are a patient who smokes or uses tobacco, you may request that your physician prescribe a tobacco cessation aid for you while you are with us. We will do our part to make you comfortable in this environment, and ask that you and your family support the effort while you are with us.
