General Visiting Guidelines
Tucson Heart Hospital encourages and supports active involvement of patients’ families and their visitors in the patient’s hospital experience. The following guidelines are established to support the patients healing process.
- General visiting hours are from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm; ICU visiting hours are from 10:00am to 2:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. In the ICU, quiet time is observed between 2:00-4:00 pm and visitors are asked to leave so patients can rest and heal. Visiting hours may vary from unit to unit, please talk with a hospital staff member if you have additional questions.
- Members of the clergy may visit at any time.
- Visitors are asked to leave the hospital by 8 pm and waiting areas/ lobbies in the main hospital are unavailable for use after 8 pm.
- Visitors should be healthy. Please be considerate of patients and stay away from the hospital if you have a communicable disease, such as a cold or flu. (Please refer to Infection Control Precautions section of this guide.) 25
- Visitors are encouraged to cleanse their hands frequently to prevent the spread of infection and follow any special infection control instructions which may be necessary for certain patients. In certain situations, visitors may be asked to wear a mask, gown and/or gloves while in the treatment room or in the waiting area.
- Up to two visitors may visit at any one time
- When not in a patient room, visits are asked to remain in lobbies/ waiting areas or other public areas. Please note that food and/or drink are not allowed in the main hospital lobbies or chapel and need to be consumed in the café area.
- Waiting areas are available for patient family members and visitors
- We recognize that children are active participants in the healing process for some patients. Children visiting must remain under the supervision of an adult visitor at all times. Children, like all other visitors, must cleanse their hands before and after visiting a patient to prevent infection.
- Visitors and family members are encouraged to leave the hospital and rest at home during the night. It is important that family members are well rested so that they may feel strong and can support their loved one who is in the hospital.
- Overnight stay in the patient’s room is permissible by one visitor and is at the discretion of the Physician, Charge RN and/or assigned RN (The Health Care Team). Please discuss desires for an overnight visitor with the patient’s assigned RN. Overnight sleeping in the lobbies/ waiting areas or chapel is not permitted.
