What to Bring

You may want to consider bringing a few personal items from home to make your stay more comfortable, noting that you will be responsible for all items you bring to the hospital.

What to Bring to the Hospital

  • toothbrush/toothpaste
  • hair care items (brush, comb, shampoo, conditioner)
  • hand/body lotion
  • eye glasses, contacts, contact solution
  • pajamas (hospital gowns are provided)
  • house slippers
  • robe
  • nursing bra / nursing pads
  • comfort aids for labor
  • radio, tape or CD player
  • snacks for your support person
  • VCR movies to pass the time during early labor
  • Camera to record special moments
  • Comfortable clothing for Mom and Baby to go home in
  • Car seat for baby
  • Baby blanket for baby’s ride home

If necessary, many personal toiletry items can be purchased at the hospital.

What Not to Bring

We strongly recommend that you do not bring personal valuables like jewelry or money. Please take extra care with watches, eyeglasses and dentures during your hospital stay. Be careful not to leave them on food trays, or wrapped in tissues because they could mistakenly be thrown away.

While at the hospital, you will not be allowed to keep personal medications or administer your own drugs. All medications prescribed by your doctor will be dispensed by our pharmacy and administered and recorded by our nursing staff.
