Volunteer, Terry Austin

Oct 15, 2024

Terry has been a steadfast front desk volunteer at St. Joe's since 2019. Born and raised in St. Louis, she moved to Tucson after falling in love with Arizona during a visit in 1978. With extensive experience in healthcare, including her role as a Unit Clerk for UMC Pediatrics, Terry later made a career switch to the Forest Service, where she worked as a cartographer, exploring remote areas across the state. Her retirement brought her to St. Joe's, a place with special meaning, as her mother was once a patient.

Inspired by her mom's exceptional care, Terry felt a calling to donate her time to the hospital. During the challenging years of the COVID-19 pandemic, she played a crucial role in maintaining the front desk schedule, ensuring that patients and visitors consistently felt welcomed and cared for as they entered the facility.  Terry continues to find joy in helping those who arrive upset, providing them with comfort and ensuring they leave with a smile. Thank you, Terry, for everything you do!
