stroke-2022Carondelet St. Mary's Hospital is now a Primary Plus Stroke Center, reflecting the hospital’s investment in neuroscience talent and capabilities. The certification affirms that St. Mary's Hospital goes beyond the requirements of a primary stroke center, with the addition of training, equipment, experience, and personnel for performing thrombectomies and post-care for the treatment of acute ischemic strokes. It is based on standards created by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association, and granted by DNV GL Healthcare, a certification body operating in more than 100 countries. Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital receives recertification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center from DNV

TUCSON – Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital proudly announces its reaffirmation as a distinguished Comprehensive Stroke Center by DNV Healthcare, underscoring its commitment to delivering the most advanced stroke treatments. This latest accreditation positions St. Joseph’s Hospital at the forefront of stroke care excellence for the next three years.

The DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification, benchmarked against standards set by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association, affirms Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital's comprehensive approach to stroke care encompassing diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and education. The certification also establishes clear metrics for evaluating outcomes.

Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital has been committed to investing and expanding stroke care offered to southern Arizona residents. In July 2022, Carondelet Health Network expanded its neuroscience and stroke care capabilities by unveiling a new $3 million dollar state-of-the-art interventional radiology (IR) lab.

Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital is also nationally recognized for stroke care. As a designated Primary Plus Stroke Center, St. Mary’s Hospital is equipped to go above and beyond the requirements of a primary stroke center, with the addition of training, equipment, experience, and personnel for performing thrombectomies and post-care for the treatment of acute ischemic strokes.
