Jan 17, 2019Consumer value, quality and convenience key for Carondelet Health Network expansion
MARANA (Jan. 17, 2019) – The new hospital under construction at I-10 and Cortaro Farms Road now has a name: Carondelet Marana Hospital. Carondelet Health Network officials expect the hospital to open early this summer.
Carondelet Marana Hospital will focus on providing emergency care and select inpatient procedures. It will include a 14-bed emergency department, two operating rooms and eight inpatient rooms, along with additional outpatient services.
“The Carondelet Marana Hospital will offer a patient-friendly design with emergency and acute care services in an efficient, convenient location. It’s designed to provide close integration with our other facilities for patients who may require more complex care.” said Carondelet Health Network CEO Mark Benz.
The hospital’s emergency department will be open around the clock and staffed by board-certified emergency physicians. Additional planned services will include a laboratory and diagnostic imaging including x-ray, computed tomography (CT) and ultrasound.
“Medical care continues to evolve with a consumer focus and this is a new model for bringing healthcare services into the community. Carondelet Health Network is investing in the Marana area to offer consumer options and additional access for those who are seeking value, quality and convenience in healthcare,” said Benz.
Located on a 3.5 acre site at 5620 W. Cortaro Rd., the 32,500 sq. ft. hospital is expected to offer quality jobs in STEM fields with approximately 50 fulltime equivalent clinical and support staff jobs.
“Our goal is providing an integrated system of care closer to home for those who choose Carondelet Health Network for their care. We believe this type of facility will offer the quality and efficiency today’s healthcare consumers expect,” explained Benz.
More than 100 community leaders attended the hospital’s groundbreaking in July 2018.
Carondelet Health Network operates Carondelet St. Joseph’s and Carondelet St. Mary’s hospitals in Tucson, Carondelet Holy Cross Hospital in Nogales, along with related physician practices and outpatient centers.
