Tucson’s Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital Receives State of Arizona Award for Excellence in Workplace Wellness

Tucson, AZ – July 18, 2017 - Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital has been recognized for excellence in worksite wellness by the Healthy Arizona Worksite Program, which has given the hospital its Gold Healthy Arizona Worksite Award.

The Healthy Arizona Worksites Award recognizes employers who are making efforts to positively affect the health and well-being of their employees, their families and the community by implementing comprehensive worksite wellness strategies. The minimum qualifications to be considered for this award include attending the Health Arizona Worksite Program training and developing a plan to improve employee health and safety. To qualify for the Silver or Gold levels for the award, employers need to support employee health through policy and systems changes.

The Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital wellness initiatives are spearheaded by the hospital’s Chief Financial Officer, Theresa Mouton, and a group of dedicated members of the Wellness Team. Over the last year, this team has led significant change for their more than 1,400 associates including adding a new gym and fitness classes, offering weight loss classes and holding quarterly wellness fairs that provide information on all aspects of wellness – physical, mental, social, financial and spiritual.
