Whether you’re suffering from back pain or have limited function due to injury or a health condition, the Carondelet Neurological Institute Spine Center at St. Joseph’s Hospital has physical therapy options that can help improve your life. The highly trained therapists are able to evaluate your individual needs and create a customized plan that will work for you. We provide effective treatment for problems including:
- Degenerative disk disease
- Degenerative joint disease
- Vertebral instability
- Herniated disks
- Lumbar and cervical stenosis
- Back and neck pain — acute and chronic
- Neck and back post-surgical physical therapy
Our therapists have specialized training and experience in a variety of therapeutic approaches. This includes manual therapy, which uses hands-on, one-on-one physical therapy with a highly trained specialist. We also offer dry needling, which is a highly effective technique that requires special certification. It involves placing a needle in a particular area on your back to help alleviate pain due to poor posture, sports injuries, repetitive use and other issues that cause back pain.
As part of your recovery you may use any of, or a combination of, the following therapeutic exercises:
- Balance activities
- Functional activities
- Home exercise program instruction
- Post-surgical exercise protocols
- Postural re-education
- Spinal stabilization
In addition to treatment, our physical therapy program also focuses on education that helps you take control of your therapy sessions and increases your ability to effectively combat back and neck problems during and after therapy.
