TUCSON – Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital proudly announces its reaffirmation as a distinguished Comprehensive Stroke Center by DNV Healthcare, underscoring its commitment to delivering the most advanced stroke treatments. This latest accreditation positions St. Joseph’s Hospital at the forefront of stroke care excellence for the next three years.
"Our team's unwavering dedication ensures our community receives high-quality stroke care. This national recognition highlights the extensive efforts we've invested in this program, solidifying our commitment to the health and safety of our patients,” says Dr. L. Roderick Anderson, Carondelet Health Network’s Stroke Medical Director.
The DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification, benchmarked against standards set by the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association, affirms Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital's comprehensive approach to stroke care encompassing diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and education. The certification also establishes clear metrics for evaluating outcomes.
"Obtaining this level of certification exemplifies our team's dedication to providing care to our patients," states Vargas-Mahar. "Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering the highest standard of stroke care for Tucson and Southern Arizona,” said Monica Vargas-Mahar, Market Chief Executive Officer for Carondelet Health Network.
Carondelet St. Joseph’s Hospital has been committed to investing and expanding stroke care offered to southern Arizona residents. In July 2022, Carondelet Health Network expanded its neuroscience and stroke care capabilities by unveiling a new $3 million dollar state-of-the-art interventional radiology (IR) lab.
Carondelet St. Mary’s Hospital is also nationally recognized for stroke care. As a designated Primary Plus Stroke Center, St. Mary’s Hospital is equipped to go above and beyond the requirements of a primary stroke center, with the addition of training, equipment, experience, and personnel for performing thrombectomies and post-care for the treatment of acute ischemic strokes.
These collective achievements highlight Carondelet Health Network’s commitment and success in ensuring their stroke patients receive treatment that meets research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
